Magus, i agree with you when you said: don’t let the machine control your thirst to play

thats the problem with the game titles. some fall on to one machine or the other.

but as you concluded, i’m getting closer to choosing the ps3 along with the new controllers

ATi is a good bet considering the performance and budget ratio. An engineering ethics to get more out of less cost.

AMD processors were made that way – fewer ads, but loved their processors (turned a blind eye on the heat issue).

As AMD as got ATi under their wings, consumers would get a smarter combination of of the said engineering ethics with regard to CPU and GPU manufacturing.

I could safely predict that the day AMD had ATi, we are going to see a single CPU & GPU “unit” providing a solution for small, efficient computing devices.

Its a matter who can pull it off better first.

But hate when game developers choose a particular Company over the other. Why are they taking sides…..surely will not purchase a game that does not support my card to the fullest.

The laptop serial code or pin code is a good way to know information of the stolen laptop. When the concerned service center gets it and run a check on their black list, they can help to get it back to you. Thumb rule : get your product registered at the respective brand web site. Report ASAP when its stolen.

From market survey:

1. Xbox 360 is running graphics better than PS3′s technical good specs.
2. Couple of games are first released on the Xbox prior to PS3
3. People love the finish of PS3, even the menu/home screen. Xbox just recently adjusted their home screen but the box still looks like a toy
4. Yes, they love the BlueRay playback of the PS3
5. Most popular (10+) games for the PS3 are scoring average 7 (by 10) compared to the exclusive xbox titles, which means PS3 playing experience is better

I understand that games are easy to develop for the Xbox because MS does give good development support. As for the PS3 its game titles have changed considerably in terms of the kind of games available for this gaming station.

It sucks to know PS3 latest update removed the option to install Linux on it. It was a back stab unless there were no takers for such an option.

Sony has developed new interactive gadgets other than the default controller. A demo of those were shown and there is a lot more potential to what applications can come on the PS3.

So far from sales reports. Xbox has sold more units than the PS3. The point that i gleaned from the survey is: Users had better multi-player experience on the Xbox. People love playing with fellow humans than the AI. But on the other hand, the overall feedback for solo games, PS3 were a better experience(like point 5 mentioned above).

Do understand the frustration staring at a failed software operation.

Personally speaking windows Vista is not an ideal choice as an operating system, after playing with it for a while. Windows 7 is lot better.

I’m not sure about the computer/laptop hardware you are using, but there are times when windows drivers and 3rd party hardware drivers just SEEM to work (if you downgrade to XP). Windows Xp lacks a feature to addressing large hard-drive spaces, hardware driver support will be relatively weaker depending on the brand support website. So look forward to moving to Windows 7.

Seen on a brand new acer extensa 5635 laptop – a triple boot- Windows Xp running smoothly (with minor hardware hiccup – any sd memory cards making the built-in cardreader to cause an automatic reboot) while the Windows 7 is making the laptop run like a pro for a good bargain. Linux (forgot the name of the variant, it was the 2006 version) as always ran well, just had to know what were the command lines to get few hardware devices recognized.

As for troublshooting the issue, i would go for a fresh installation (OS and softwares) and narrow down to what has caused the software crash. Yup, it calls for making time and patience.

1. make ready a bootable OS CD/DVD
2. In a portable drive (like a USB) the copy of the latest/ working versions of the device drivers in one folder meant for the OS that is going to be installed.
3. Have all the setup programs ready for installation even the necessary ones like adobe flash, Directx etc
4. Save and transfer all your important documents off from the computer hardware.
5. make a fresh installation of the OS by formatting the hard drive
6. Install the device drivers one by one (make the necessary restarts whenever asked)
7. Run online update for the OS and (if any) device drivers too.
8. install the basic softwares and notice for failures
9. Install the game , check for failures
10. Disable windows roll back feature and check for any future problems

Both rigs sounds great. But bit suspicious on the Turbo Boost feature of latest Intel i series processors which is related to the power efficiency. Boost performance when needed.

For test purposes, i suppose it wouldn’t matter. But for some serious work power, AMD is going to provide its complete processing power without regard to power efficiency unlike the Turbo boost feature of the intel i series.

Intel 8/9xxx series will work better if its for test, but if the cache memory and its speed is in mind, the Intel detail specs on the i-5 need to be understood.

(At this point, am hunting for a laptop with 8xxxx processor that will work as good as the present i5 and will be much affordable.)
