ATI cards are cheap for a reason(lower quality than Nvidia) Just like u will get LG and Samsung phones cheaper than Nokia/apple iphone just cuz they have lower quality and u pay more for quality!!

4870×2 was chosen best card cuz the jury compares all the cards in terms of frame rates in Bar charts and they cant measure quality in bar chart form so the card which gives more frame rates irrespective of it’s quality gets chosen as the best!!
the GTX 295 1792mb will give marginally lesser frame rates but the quality of graphics will be majorly better than 4870×2

I would go for ATI and here are few advanatges over Nvidia

1.ATI company is a sub-element of AMD or Advanced Micro Devices Company
2.ATI 4870X2 on your lips because this was the best card of 2008
3.Much cheaper.
4.ATI supports Directx 10. 1 from the core.
