Here is a nice deal I found in India :
Upgrade of home premium version in us costs $119.99 where as full version is 199.99$(in Indian currency the upgrade version will itself costs abt rs5300/- and full version will be more than rs.9000/- depending on $-rs exchange rate)

Just purchase the full dvd and run it in vista and he will find the option to upgrade....

windows 7 is better than vista because there is less hardware usage (ram cpu etc.)
