Windows 7 – Wireless (Bluetooth As Well) Problems

Hello,

Recently I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista in my DELL. When Vista was there I was able to access the Wireless connection option and the Bluetooth as well.

As soon as I upgraded to Windows 7, both has stopped working. I thought I need to update my OS with new updates. Few days back I did this also. But my trails went in vain. It is giving error like “The setting have been blocked in BIOS. Contact your Administrator”.

I Checked my BIOS settings and the settings are perfect. I shuffled them and to see the effect. But the same response is bugging. I made them set to the initial position now.

How to solve this issue? Please help.

First thing First :

Did you check with Dell on this issue ?
Did you update your drivers ? Windows 7 might be using the default driver which might be giving you issues.
Did you check non Error Logs and see if there is any help ?

Let us know.

Thanks for the immediate response.

Not checked with Dell. Earlier I had a hardware problem and they haven’t done anything on it.
Not aware whether the driver got updated or not. I tried to update my OS.
Error logs – where they are located ?

Assuming both your bluetooth and wireless is turned on.

Dell Can suggest you in case there is a Driver issue. I am pretty sure your hardware is fine it is just the driver.

You can go to Hardware part in control panel and see the Device Manager. See if there are yellow marks there beside the ones that is not working.

Error logs can be found in Event Viewer. Just type in start menu. Also There are couple of error logs there see in each.

Did you get any issues while upgrading ?

YES. Both are on. For the temporary I turned off Wireless. And as you said, the device manger is not reporting any error. So I guess there is no issue with Hardware. I haven’t checked the logs. I’ll look into that. The major issue is, I have no option left (Internet) to update/upgrade the required things.

I didn’t faced any problem while upgrading to “7″. My OS is 64-bit version and few of the apps are not compatible with it. I have made required changes for the same.

I’ll try to update my drivers.

Hi Ashish,

I followed your steps but didn’t worked for me. I have updated the drivers which are compatible with Windows 7 (x64). Updated BIOS also. While installing a setup which is related to bluetooth, it reported as The higher version is already installed. Installation will be terminated.

When everything done and started to start my bluetooth, it is giving no resopnse. I checked the Event Log. I’ve attached the screen shot along with this. I found few errors but are not related to bluetooth.

What to do ? Please help.

Hello. I have recently upgraded to a win 7 laptop and have been having difficulties with the bluetooth connectivity for my blackberry. I have reviewed the articleas and posts I have found on this (evididently common) problem but they do not sweem to apply to my problem.

Specifially when I try to “update driver” from the device manager I receive a message that “windows could not find device drivers”.

Any suggestions?
Thanks
