Hi is it a good idea to upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows Vista. I am using ultimate version. How good is the product or it is just mere Vista 2.0

Also check out Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT)

It contains the necessary tools and documentation to evaluate and mitigate application compatibility issues before deploying Windows 7, Windows Vista®, a Windows Update, or a new version of Windows® Internet Explorer® in your environment.

The only issue I have with Windows 7 is the messenger seems to want to be in the task bar even after you close it out. I found a way to get around it now, but it has been annoying for the last month. Other than that I prefer it over XP and definately over Vista!

Ive got to ask. is it worth buying windows 7 now if im still content with xp. My only hang up on xp is not being able to “officially” support dx10 or 11. I run xp and xp64. I know ill take flak for this but when windows vista launched i was working for geek squad. yeah yeah monkeys in ties could do better than most geek agents. With vista i saw this buggy monstrous slow unstable virus magnet and i could not justify dealing with it just to get something that looks pretty when it works. Now I have not even seen windows 7 let alone tried to use it. I’d like to try it before buying. And i’d like to get the “ultimate” package without having to pawn everything i own. any suggestions on where to see a demo?

@bob625 : Yup that’s annoying for sure but if you right click on it and close it will go off.

@bob625 : There was a beta release of Windows 7 few months back which many of use had tried it and was very satisfied with the result. I would suggest to check out with some friends who do have Windows 7. I will try to figure if there is a online demo of Windows 7 which you can try before you buy it.

@tylernol : How is the drift now ?

@bob625: Best is to check with vendors. They have a OEM version which might be little cheaper and if you are on Windows Vista an upgrade will be damn cheap.
